Spring is here! Although Florida didn’t seem to know what season it was, with several days falling to the 50s and others hitting the high 80s, we finally have some wonderful beach weather.
This month put Buddy Jacobs back in Tallahassee as the Florida Legislative session went into full swing on March 6th. This year marks his 54th legislative session, and potentially one of his most demanding. Buddy has been the General Council for the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys for 47 years!

U.S. Senator Nelson plans to visit Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach on Labor Day weekend to take a tour of the Historic Post Office with our very own Buddy Jacobs and Rich Scholz along with several other members of the community. Our firm is very excited to be in attendance as the Postmaster shares the progress of the Historic Post Office restoration project with Senator Nelson.

July was filled with victories for our personal injury clients as we were able to settle their cases with compensation that exceeded expectations. As the month comes to a close, the firm enters the final stages of settlement in two of its long standing contract cases with favorable results for our clients. Our attorneys have spent long, hard hours in research and negotiation in active cases and are ready for several more as we enter into a new month with new cases every day.
Buddy Jacobs and Rich Scholz continue to support the City of Fernandina Beach with the North Fletcher Drainage Project as we prepare for the hurricane season in Northeast Florida.
Restoration of the Historic Fernandina Beach Post Office continues as the restoration team prepares to repaint the exterior of the building. Members of the community, who follow the progress of the restoration project, update our firm regularly. Recently, we were informed that during process of etching paint on the roofing, architectural details that date back to the Historic Post Office’s inception revealed themselves.

George Orwell once said: “The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” This month included the Dedication of the Replica of the Railroad Platform located at downtown Fernandina Beach. As the Railroad is a large part of Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island history, we invite everyone to come celebrate the history of this beautiful town. We continue to strive to preserve its history and recognize the efforts of anyone and everyone involved in reaching this goal.
On a similar note, the restoration of the Fernandina Beach Post Office, in downtown Fernandina, is in full swing. Our firm facilitated, on behalf the City of Fernandina Beach, the effort for the U.S. Post Office to preserve the historic Fernandina Beach Post Office. The estimated completion date for this project is Fall of 2016. Throughout the summer we will continue to provide updates on the project within this news section.
